Nuclear power provides cheap and clean energy. The benefits of nuclear technology far outweigh the disadvantages.

To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant example from your own knowledge or experience.

Write at least 250 words.

It is generally believed that nuclear power is optimal and environmentally friendly, so its downsides can be overshadowed. However, I have the opposite point of view and this essay will elaborate on the reasons.

When it comes to the cost, it is true that generating nuclear electricity is the most productive method with only low expenses. Nevertheless, it is only right when there are available factories, machines and distinguished people. For instance, Vietnam has paid up to 200.000 billion dong, an exorbitant price, to erect a nuclear power plant in Ninh Thuan and continues to need to spend more than that in hiring experts from foreign countries. Moreover, nations which desire to have their own factories in this area have to pay more for necessary conditions such as security, education, and facilities, etc.

In terms of the impact that nuclear energy could bring to the environment compared to other sources of energy like fossil fuel, it is moderately small. Nuclear electricity is often indoctrinated to cause zero damage to the atmosphere. It is true, but  this approach may cause several really concerning risks. To be more precise, the catastrophe from nuclear leakage is enormous and out of control. For example, the Chernobyl disaster in 1986 not only resulted in approximately 100 deaths at that moment but also contaminated the soil and air, which has been still long lasting and hazardous throughout the history of the USSR and Ukraine. Hence, many governments are reluctant to set up nuclear plants due to the disapproval and fear from the citizens.
In conclusion, although nuclear energy can bring out a lot of properties and greatly contribute to the demand of power, the governments and the inhabitants need to take the risks into account to avoid its shortcomings. Besides, there should be close inspections when the nuclear plant is constructed to ensure safety
