2. Các câu hỏi thường gặp về Dictionaries

Do you use dictionary?

I use dictionary on a daily basis. I think it is an essential tool for every language learner to enhance their proficiency.

Which kinds of dictionaries do you prefer to use?

My go-to dictionaries that I love are ozdic.com and oxforddictionaries.com. They are bilingual dictionaries written by the most prominent linguistics, providing a wealth of entries with accuracy. Sometimes when I can’t get the hang of a word’s meaning, I would go for an English - Vietnamese dictionary because it’s easier for me to grasp the meaning in my mother tongue.

Do you think the dictionary is useful?

From my perspective, dictionaries are of paramount importance in the language acquisition process. With a dictionary, either paper or online forms, you can look up the meaning of unfamiliar words. Moreover, there are an array of sample sentences in different contexts so that the users can apply what they’ve learnt properly.

What do you write everyday?

I have to take notes, jotting down ideas during meeting everyday at work. I guess that could count as writing. Otherwise I don’t compose novels or short passages or anything like a professional writer.

How often do you use your dictionary?

Countless times a day, and seven days a week, I have to say. I’m an English learner so I look up new or uncommon words in dictionaries each time I encounter them. Using dictionaries is part and parcel of my daily activities.

Do you like paper dictionaries or electronic dictionaries?

I definitely will gravitate towards using an electronic dictionary. It has been a long time since I last carried a heavy printed dictionary. Now, all that I need is my smartphone connected to the Internet. I mean e-dictionaries are portable and really come in handy.

What kinds of dictionaries have you used before?

As a high-schooler without a smartphone, I largely relied on my paper dictionary. Since I started going to college, I’ve turned to e-dictionaries. I have a liking for monolingual dictionaries because they explain the contexts in which a word can be used in detail.
