Describe a historical building that you're interested in. You should say:

- Which the building is

- How it looks like

- Why you like this building

I’d like to talk about an old church here in this city that was constructed in the second half of the 19th century. It’s Notre-Dame Cathedral, a very famous building as a tourist attraction apart from being a religious site for Catholics.

As far as I know, the cathedral was built by the French during the period of colonialism, so it’s been in existence for nearly a century and a half now. Today you can still see its bright-red bricks on the outside, and the architecture is French, of course, sort of Gothic architecture, I think. The main cathedral has 2 very tall bell towers on its left and right, probably reaching 60 metres or so. Inside the cathedral is a solemn hall for religious ceremonies.

I pass by the cathedral on my way to work every day, but, being a non-Catholic, I’ve actually visited it only a couple of times. I often see tourists and local people get together there at the garden right in front of the cathedral where there’s a Virgin Mary statue, and sometimes couples who are gonna get married get there to have their photographs taken cuz the view is so beautiful and reflects sort of Western style. So I must say that I’m proud my city has such a well-known church

Describe a historical building in your area. You should say:

- Which the building is

- How it looks like

- What people do there

- And also say whether you like this building or not

I’ve lived my whole life here in Ho Chi Minh City. There’re several buildings that hold significant meaning in our cultures. Among these, the one which I enjoy visiting the most is Duc Ba Cathedral.

It’s located in District 1 – right in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City. The church is surrounded by other important structures such as Reunification Palace on the right, HCM Post Office on the left and at the back Diamond Plaza - a great place for shopping. To get there is quite easy. It’s a 5-minute-walk from here.

Even though there’re plenty of churches around here, this one is quite unique for it was built by French colonizers before they left Vietnam.

The architecture of Notre Dame is not only impressive but also unique. It’s quite large. It was built out of bricks and concretes. Its distinctive shape makes it look like a whole lot of mushroom to me. The church comprises of a rectangular building with 2 towers at the sides of the entrance, along with the statue of Mother Maria in front. Because the building is quite old, certain parts of it have been reconstructed time and again.

There’re several activities take place at this place. For example, Christians go there to say their prayers, tourists pay a visit to this must-visit structure, husband-and-wife-to-be pose for their wedding photos while young people just sit around for a chit-chat and take in the view.

I guess I love this building not only because of its distinct look but also due to the memories I have had there with my friends and loved ones.
